
The National Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Commission hosted its Annual Awards Night on January 9, 2025, under the theme “Celebrating the WASH Champions,” recognizing outstanding partners and individuals for their contributions to the sector. Held at the Royal Grand Hotel in Sinkor, the event brought together key stakeholders, partners, and well-wishers to celebrate efforts in improving WASH services across Liberia.
WASH Commission CEO, Hon. George K.W. Yarngo, acknowledged both the progress and challenges within the sector, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration to enhance water, sanitation, and hygiene services across the country. He commended the award recipients for their unwavering commitment to ensuring improved WASH services.
During the ceremony, Monrovia City Mayor, Hon. John Charuk Siafa, was named Goodwill Ambassador for Sanitation in recognition of his role in promoting a cleaner city. Other honorees included WinRock International, WaterAid, Samaritan’s Purse Relief Service, and County Wide Sanitation all recognized for their significant contributions to WASH interventions in Liberia.
Additionally, from the WASH Commission, Mrs. Mercy Dunn-Joedoe, Secretary in the Office of the CEO, and Mr. Christian V. Holmes, General Services Manager, were honored for their dedication and service.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment among stakeholders to strengthening Liberiaโs WASH sector and improving the well-being of citizens.
