Public Statement from the National WASH Commission
The National Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Commission (NWASHC) wishes to assure the general public that it is fully aware of the growing concerns surrounding the production and distribution of Diamond Mineral Water.
We would like to inform the public that a comprehensive investigation into the company’s operations has been ongoing for some time. This investigation is being conducted in collaboration with relevant government institutions, including the Ministry of Health and other regulatory and quality assurance agencies, to thoroughly assess the safety, hygiene, and compliance of Diamond Mineral Water with national water standards. While we acknowledge and appreciate the recent media coverage for amplifying public attention and encouraging accountability, it is important to clarify that this matter was already under official review by the appropriate authorities. The media report adds value to the transparency we aim to uphold, but the issue was not new to our regulatory radar.
As the government entity mandated to regulate and monitor water, sanitation, and hygiene services across Liberia, the Commission remains committed to ensuring that the quality of water available to the Liberian people is safe, reliable, and in full compliance with national and international standards. The protection of public health remains our highest priority. We urge the public to remain calm and assured that the investigation will be thorough and impartial. Once all findings have been collected and verified, the Commission will issue a formal report and take all necessary actions based on the results, including possible sanctions or enforcement measures where violations are confirmed.
