Bravo Water Company Temporarily Resumed Operations After Regulatory Shutdown, Commits to Compliance

Bravo Water reopens under strict WASH Commission oversight after addressing quality concerns.

The WASH Commission has temporarily reopened Bravo Water Company after a regulatory shutdown due to repeated consumer complaints. The reopening ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, January 29, 2025, featured a symbolic handover of keys from the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to the management of Bravo Water Company, marking the temporary resumption of operations.

During the event, the CEO disclosed that approximately 29,000 sachets of water had been retrieved from the market and would be destroyed to uphold water quality and protect public health. The shutdown followed repeated consumer complaints to the WASH Commission about visible particles in the water, prompting an investigation that led to the recall of affected batches.

Addressing stakeholders, the WASH CEO reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to enforcing strict water safety regulations. He also presented a compliance checklist that Bravo Water must adhere to during the temporary reopening. “The Commission will continue to ensure that only the highest quality water is available to the public. This reopening is conditional, and the company must fully comply with the agreed standards,” he stated.

Giorgio Haddad, CEO of Bravo Water Company, expressed gratitude for the Commission’s collaboration and oversight, assuring that all recommended improvements would be fully implemented. He explained that tests conducted by Standard Lab and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) confirmed the water’s safety. The issue stemmed from a mechanical error in the processing machine, but no bacteria were found. He apologized for the previous issue of visible particles in the water and reassured consumers that necessary steps had been taken to prevent a recurrence.

The WASH Commission emphasized its ongoing commitment to monitoring compliance and urged consumers to remain vigilant, reporting any concerns about water quality. The temporary reopening of Bravo Water Company marks a significant regulatory milestone, reinforcing the WASH Commission’s dedication to ensuring safe and clean drinking water for all Liberians.
